Fort William and Port Arthur

My mother took her first trip to Minnesota when she was nine year's old. She came through Duluth and stayed on Park Point. She crossed on the old suspended car that traveled back and fourth across the canal. Later her family went on up to Canada. Back then today's Thunder Bay was two cities which have since merged.

I was 11 when I made my first trip to Minnesota. We visited my cousins the Sages in the Twin Cities. They were the children of my mother's older sister Mary Jane who stands on the left side of this picture.

We continued north after visiting them and I found my first Lake Superior Agate on the North shore at a cabin about five miles beyond Duluth.
